All complex, cross-functional business processes may be called "living processes."  This stands to reason because a thorough definition of process is not limited to "what" is done - but also has to encompass "who" does it and "how" it is executed. Processes come alive when they are well defined and managed - not just improved. It is unfortunate that in many of today's BPM implementation there is not sufficient attention to BPM as a management practice and not just a set of tools.
